Daring love
I have loved And suffered loss I have loved Imperfectly With all my might Only to see My imperfections Magnified My humanity Targeted And my heart Mutilated I have loved And seen my sanity Eroded by conceptual folly By expectations By lack Of understanding And the cruelty Of human nature And your pig Trampled on The precious gifts I gave you Still I dare To love you Even more so But it will be From within The fortress Of wisdom From inside My armor And the beauty Of forgiveness.

This, for some reason, reminds me of lines from the movie, "Princess Bride" when Buttercup tells Wesley/Dread Pirate Roberts that she has loved more deeply than a pig like he would ever hope to understand...etc. Maybe it is because I can imagine the words being said the same way. With sadness--mourning, with a sense of loss...and yet with a freedom because you didn't stoop to the same level and you understand that forgiveness means freedom.
