In honor of Independence Day, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Everyday - originally written based on the speech by Christopher Reeve as Superman near the end of "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace."
"Winds of Freedom"
Blowing through soft winds I breathe
Desire for freedom in the air,
Passionate whispers of the needs
For acceptance, for hope and care.
How to this dream can we succumb,
Within a world too full of hate,
Where greed and power overcome
And fears and prejudice berate?
But tight to my faith I do hold.
Whispers will grow to voices bold.
The winds will grow to one strong gale.
Freedom and peace can now prevail.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
