Shame

This is more than weight lost and found; it is of self lost pound by pound.

 

 

A silent voice hides behind eyes that haunt

But condemning thoughts are heard and they taunt.

 

She lost so much weight not so long ago

How could she stop and just let herself go?

 

There are no answers just a need to hide,

But how do you escape from those eyes inside

 

The person who instigates so much blame

For that person is me, living in shame.

Brilliant even though every line is not easy to understand. Some of the images are really masterly.

The way others look at us becomes part of us, "those eyes inside" that keep judging. All that we can do is try to become more friendly to ourselves. Nicely expressed.

I know how you feel, Karen. I too am trying to lose weight. Problem is as I get older, there doesn't seem to be a reason any more.
