the boy today said 'word chunks' to me on the phone. i wrote a poem.

a slow beating heart
accelerates from fingers
probing ribs

i hit the floor on my back
laughing
pinned down
shielding my neck

high just from breathing
"you cant go"
but the going happens

i confuse him
he wants what inside
to know it all

persistantly persistant
i allow access to places
that shouldnt
usually wouldnt
be allowed

i offer up word chunks
and a few days later
sentence
and paragraph chunks

and an understanding is reached
if not a little too late
but
no matter
waiting is ok
as long as he knows eventually
