TIRED

I’m tired now of uselessly trying to be,
a surrogate daughter and mother for he.
Tired of paying the consequences for a life that passed you by;
one of distrust, and lies, and manipulation of you,
that would make you feel guilty, sick, and miserable, and cry too.

I am tired of swimming upstream, so to speak,
to spawn all of your hopes and your dreams to a peak,
and then see the untreated, and dysfunctional few,
steal away from us quickly,
the lives we once knew.

I am tired now, of the daily grind;
tired of walking on eggshells, so carefully trying,
to not offend, ruffle, or intimidate your intimate, fragile male ego,
so that our lives could continue on,
in balance, “contigo”.

I’m tired, so tired,
mentally, physically, and emotionally three,
to make a good life that goes on
unnoticed by he.
