When does love leave?

I don’t remember when

I stopped loving him,

the first heartbeat
that rang hollow,

first glance at a stranger.

It may have been before

the vows, or, perhaps,

in the wake of the aftermath.

It could have been, after all,
a simple illusion, the love

after the first love, the dash

of reality after the dream dies.

It might have been a lie I lived

through births and deaths, a

crystal lie riddled with tiny cracks

where small fissures of truth

opened up, distorting the view

from within or without.

I don’t remember when emotion

was neutralized, when it didn’t matter

anymore that I don’t remember.

"I Don´t Remember" is rich in imagery and contents. It messages
something like, "A rainbow of love comes after the thunder storm of passion is gone".

I have enjoyed the reading of a poetic grandiose.

Long healthy creative life, Poet!

there is always a memory of hope though we may have to travel in a different direction to recall it ...

How very true this is Pam! I have often wonder when the love actually died. Sometimes I think that as we grow to know aperson, who can either grow more enamoured by their personalities or, indeed more aware that they are not like we thought they were. That is why I have heard that a relationship has to grow, or, if it becomes static, it starts to go downhill. In other words, it cannot remain the same, ever.

'small fissures of truth' - wonderful line in an imaginative and expressive write. The Crystal of love that turns out to be a lie an illusion - who can recall?

Pam, I am looking forward to reading more of you.
