Petite Maman Film Poem

by Betty Jo Tucker — Read all 96 poems by Betty Jo Tucker

“Petite Maman,”a wonderful French movie. opens in select theaters this Friday, April 22. 2022. It was on my Honorable Mention list during the Award Season, and I just had to write the following poem about this welcome screen offering.

Thursday, April 21, 2022

Poem Artwork

Two little girls play in the woods.

No one yells at them about shoulds.

They fix a house inside a tree

  and talk about their family.

Nell is lonely. Marion sees.

With each other they feel at ease.

Though newly met, they seem to click.

Could this be some magical trick?

These two roles are played by real twins.

Everyone in audience wins.

“Petite Maman,” a lovely show.

If you like fantasy, please go.

(Released by Neon and rated “PG” by MPAA.)

Films like these are so needed in todays chaotic world…

I hope there is some magic…
I will watch out for it…

Since we were boys, my twin and I always competed with each other and never showed any affection like a hug, because that was for girls, like the two in the movie Petite Maman.

I'm not much for fantasies unless they are filled with lessons like many of the classic children's tales that I've read. But thanks to your poem, if it comes my way, I will watch Petite Maman.
