I also admired him as one of the great star race car drivers, mixing in very well with that crowd of a different kind of celebrity. I had to laugh when I saw him being introduced to AJ Foyt, from right here in the Northwest reaches of Houston, call Paul, "Bud," like he called everyone he didn't know and seemed not to care. He won the Indianapolis 500 four times, I believe. thought I saw him once driving an Excalibur on the Southwest Freeway going to work. There are quite a few documentaries showing the old buzzard. He's tough and refuses to die.
