In response to the challenge of what do I have to give thanks for at Thanksgiving

the prime of life had Mercury’s fleet feet
I spent my youth always wishing for what
tomorrow would bring, never giving acclaim
to the gifts bestowed me for the moments
that are now my yesterdays, unappreciative

one search has taken me a lifetime, honest love
though oh so late I have been granted that love
it guides all of my emotions now with a peace
my weary soul had not previously known
she is the support, appreciation and adoration
so long ago sought, thank God she is found

my survival as an individual is known only to
providence my survival as one who is loved with
an unrivaled passion is secure within her heart
for this once in a life time gift how could anyone
be more thankful, this is my second Thanksgiving
when I have an abundance of love and peace, thanks be
