Home Fires
When you leave every morning in the cold or wet, or sleepy from loving all night
To go to work and provide for the family that you love so right
Know that I remain, strong and true , to keep the home fires burning bright.
When midday you slow a while to rejuvenate your mind
Think of me thinking of you when you open your lunch and find
A little love on a sticky note, and know I hugged your heart when I made it last night.
When you come home from a day’s work knowing you gave all, no doubts
I see you coming up the walk and I sense your spirit is a little bowed
Come into my arms and comfort, we, together keep the home fires from burning out.
