Last Stop
The tears are cold
Running down my face
As a rush of memories
Takes me to another place.
Thinking of happy times
It suddenly came to me
That your angelic face
I never again would see.
We shared wonderful times
And a few were bad
But they were not enough
To make the memories sad.
I already long for the feeling
Of your softness against me
I had always believed
It would last through eternity.
The last moment I remember
As I gazed into your eyes
Was the tears forming
As we felt our goodbyes.
Then everything went dark
But a distant light I did see
It was drawing me closer
Beckoning to me.
Suddenly I found myself
Flying through space
Where was it taking me
To what unknown place?
As it started to slow down
I could see a large sign
I wondered if this destination
Was mine for all time.
The sign was visible
In all languages to read
I grew uneasy
As we reduced speed.
“This is the last stop
Before Heaven’s Gate
You may stay on board
Or get off here to wait.”
Wait for what wasn’t clear
But a sign under it read
“Wait for the loved ones
You left behind, here.”
As the doors flew open
I ran from my seat
I knew this was my stop
Till again we would meet.
The tears are now warm
Streaming down my face
As a rush of our memories
Greets me in this happy place.
