Short Circuit
your note, surreal,
fragmented, apologetic,
rambled on, but
missed the static
electricity still
in the air.
I waited three hours, your
porch light never blinked,
our anniversary ruined
by broken circuits, fire
in the air, burning
connections all too
fragile,
no one hopes for perfection
any more, relationships
die or short out, but
ours is strong, and
the current runs through
our hearts to our finger
tips, and I can hear you
breathe three miles away.
don't apologize, just meet me
for coffee at noon, sparking outlets
will be found, we have conduits,
and my energy alone
can light our nights.
