some basics shift
while nothing is lost
but the moments
that travel by time,
the letters never written,
and the emails not sent.
one can count the seconds
before connection or view
the eye contact flown
over shoppers and
up escalators when
people connect, then fail
to connect, each
feeling something but not
enough to conquer enertia or
maybe laziness, the pulling
away finally, effort
decomposing, one
turning his back, the other
blinking.

So true, so many remain insular.
Not like the days of old.."Good morning Mrs Smith, how's the kids"
"fine, now give me hald a pound of yer best back rasher, hows Freds back?"
