A Summer evening on distant shores, and the smell of woodsmoke floating in on a whimsical breeze....

 WOODSMOKE AND POSSIBILITY.....

I breathed deeply of the sweet night air,
and Woodsmoke and Possibility drifted in
on a whimsical breeze.

A memory of a sweet evening surfaced,
floating in without invitation...
I am hand in hand, heart to heart with my Love,
on dreamy, distant shores.

We stop to listen to an eager stream beneath us,
the cool, fresh water rushing, rushing,
destination unknown,
and before we knew it
another chapter of the infinite Book of Life
was upon us....

The Possibilities, even then as the sweet smell of Woodsmoke
filled our sharpened senses, were endless,
but a deep, sad ending had begun
and Destiny tinged still with Possibility
would have her way..

Look at the deep, deep darkness
and inscrutable mystery of the night sky,
the Universe majestic in its awesomeness,
myriad points of ancient light drawing our
ever curious gaze,
and tell me you are not fascinated by Possibility!

This vast ocean of splendour,
eternal banquet for the senses
which connects us to its quantum interface
is an endless stream of exciting, mesmerising Possibility...

I breathe deeply again of the sweetness and bewitching aroma
of Woodsmoke, and feel embraced by the Numinous,
surrounding my whole body and soul.
All at once I am acutely aware of my place
upon our amazing Planet of energy
and of the abundant choices Life may offer...
A chance meeting here, unexpected journey there,
and existence can be transformed in an instant.

Chance, synchronicity, Fate?

My Moonrock hangs languidly,
Mellow, safe and reassuring,
our much needed human constant
in days of confusion and uncertainty,
The Milky Way her spectacular backdrop..

A shooting star explodes way above
and I am in reverential awe of this final burst
of Cosmic energy..

I raise my arms...
Outstretched in gratitude,
and yet again inhale the enticing perfume of Woodsmoke..
entangled with endless and tantalising Possibility...

                            WE ARE STARDUST.......

This had a quiet beauty of appreciation and possibilities of not only the moment, but a fascination of what might be. Never lose the beauty of the moment for it is fleeting and the moment becomes a memory that you can revisit as often as you like. Never stifle the possibilities, without them we become stagnant. It is the possibilities that are realized that form who we are. I absolutely loved every eloquent word that formed this moment in time.

This is a beautiful poem. Both intimate and cosmic. Scents are so powerful. They can transport us instantly. I experience poetry in the heart. My mind cannot fathom your words, but my heart knows exactly what you are saying. Beautiful. Corrine

ISN'T IT JUST REMARKABLE HOW THIS DOES INDEED HAPPEN. JUST A WHISP OF A 'FRAGRANCE' FROM LONG ALONG...COULD BE A SONG OR EVEN A PHRASE...TAKES US BACK AND THEN FORWARD TO WONDROUS PLACES AND GRAND POSSIBILITIES! I SO ENJOYED THIS, THANKS FOR SHARING. This piece of beautiful work takes me back to my childhood and campfire smells at the lake.
Sometimes when I smell smoke in the distance it takes me back to this poem you wrote and I remember a place and time...while looking at the stars in the sky and laughter.

Very nice piece of artwork here!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, especially as I sit here at my desk with my picture window open above the stream that runs below, hearing the water rushing over the rocks -- just as you described... very nice... and yes, we and everything are all stardust!

Beautiful! You drew me in and wound woodsmoke into my hair and mind. I love looking at the night-time sky and feeling the stars press upon my mind. At no other time do I so closely feel one with the universe. Loved this poem!!

Wow! You take us for a mesmerizing ride here. Epiphany after epiphany explodes in me as I read--how we are one and the same with creation/ creator...not in any blasphemous sense, but that e are truly a part of the cosmos.

Years ago Paul Harvey, in "The Rest Of The Story", said something along this vein that changed the way I looked at myself forever. He told of how a brain surgeon was astounded by the Hubble Telescope, (it had just been adjusted from foggy to crystal clear vision)...anyways, the photos of far away galaxies, according to this dr were remarkably similar to the way brain cells looked under telescope lens. Nucleus being orbited by electrons and protons in vivid color, in clusters of atoms--thousands in a teaspoon was eversomuch like planets circling Suns, and clusters of a thousand-fold Suns swirling in vivid color under Hubble's lens. So I had some of the same thoughts here. It is remarkable and awe-inspiring.

....the growth opportunity is...most of the time...on the other
side of fear. Your message Diana....is clear...even if it's a little
scary...go...follow your heart...the smoke that emanates from
the burning wood....which denotes a good omen of an internal
peace...it pokes the passion...of life...instead of rationalising it.
Great actionable verse...capable of being put into action and
having practical value. Thanks for sharing.

... we are Golden! And you've got us all back into The Garden with this lovely write, Diana! :) I like the way you capitalise those nouns which are the instrumental catalysts you feel drawn to focus upon. It is said that smell is the keenest sense for recording and recalling memory so you choose well - wood smoke is heavenly and extremely evocative and provocative. Here the sensual unlocks the spiritual. You take us there. xx

Woodsmoke would likely do my allergies good, now to get my apt complex to allow me to burn wood in my front yard...I think I may just have to survive on allergy medicine...a wonderful poet, young lady, thanks for posting it...-e-

This is an absolutely superb rendering, Diana. Those who can look upon the landscape, the universe, or life and see Possibilities are the thinkers, the doers, and the lovers of life! What a great write...

You have a keen sense of the night and no memory of many campfires from a deep, dark ancestral past when romance leapt from the darkness under the stars.
