In The Twinkling of an Eye…
On this Anniversary day I look back
and in the twinkling of an eye I am Eighteen,
Young, sweet and innocent.
When we first met and kissed for the very first time,
I touched Paradise..
Home at last.
On a golden October morn,
you delivered our tiny son into this world.
His cry rang out pure and clear,
and a trinity of deep abiding love
was sealed for eternity.
Yet another twinkling of an eye,
and you my love lay in a Hospice bed…
Our little Granddaughter bright eyed and eager,
ran in from the garden,
with the gift of a Passion flower,
and laid it in your open palm..
Your face lit up radiating a boyish smile
that melted my heart…
my camera miraculously captured this
Unique, precious moment in time forever.
The day you left this Earth,
the sky showered us with countless tears of unending sorrow,
but then the Sun appeared and lit the sky
with a glorious Rainbow which spanned the whole horizon,
inviting Hope into the shards of our broken hearts.
My soul has moulded the deep sadness into an ache
that resides within me always,
but the memory of the Rainbow, and your irrepressible smile
remind me that Love lives on forever,
and you are always near me my Love,
...only a whisper of a breath away…
Really enjoyed this Pierre.
Love forever captured in his smile - precious and priceless.
Indeed, you're never apart. Such love is eternally bound within your hearts.
So sad, so moving
so deep, so inspiring.
Such a lovely poem, so tenderly conveyed and deeply felt.
Yes, our loved ones are always with us. Even when they are no longer in this physical world, their spirits are still with us and protect us everyday.

beautiful!
Sadly, but beautifully rendered.

How true, Diana.... This a wonderfully sweet and terribly sad poem.
I feel these words because now, at age eighty-seven all that has past has indeed "Been in the Twinkling of an Eye.
