HOLDING ON Courage, fear, joy and sadness all intertwined The battle rages on for control of my mind And like a fortress keeping invaders back There is a possibility these strong walls may crack Hold the fort! Hold the fort! Go out my cries As my heart lets out a teary sad sigh Reinforcements I hope will arrive tomorrow But today I do all I can to fight this sorrow I see them out there with their sharpened daggers Waiting for the moment that I should stagger Watching for the wall to fall apart So they can plunge their blades into my heart Time passes but grief still holds me tight My mind exhausted no longer wants to fight I fear I may be losing my futures sight And still I hold to the promise of a coming light Still I hold, still I hold and still I hold... "Time passes but grief still holds me tight
My mind exhausted no longer wants to fight
I fear I may be losing my futures sight
And still I hold to the promise of a coming light
Still I hold, still I hold and still I hold..."

Your last stanza is speaking powerful emotions of determination

Richard,
I welcome you first to the den, many blessings to you.
First, I read your other poem when William posted it, and I loved it. This one is a bit more intense...The one thing that stands out to me, is how well your passion for survival and lightness is felt throughout this poem. I look forward to reading more works from such a talented poet.
