She sows her seeds of distraction
on the Cotton Bowl 50 yard line.
At the half I forgo my bladder
to stare at her glide through

ordered orange rows of bandsmen
marching from goal line to goal line
her gait in step with March Grandioso,
her crazy quilt garb

of chaps over shorts
burnt orange
white boots and baton.

Even the Ferris wheel stops
weeping corn dog wrappers
on carousels and carnies
entranced by the metronome
sway of her hips.
