The day they told me she was sick
was the day that my heart died
I don't believe I said a word
I don't even think I cried

This child that God had given me
was soon to leave my sight
I dropped to my knee's
and prayed with all my might

"Dear God, you can't do this!
I don't believe I'll make it through
Please don't take her from me
I plead and beg with you."

I'll do whatever you ask of me
I'll be whatever you say
Just please Dear God have mercy on me
Don't take my baby away..

The days have since passed
and they say there is no hope
I watch as she lay sleeping
as I tie a knot in the rope

If begging doesn't do it
then for life I have no will
I won't stay to watch her go
This is the only way..I feel

And as I climb up on the chair
I hear her voice so low
"Mommy please don't do it
I couldn't bear to see you go"

This, as I heard her
moved my heart and soul
who would be here to hold her hand
when it was her time to go?

So I stepped down off the chair
and I lay beside my love
Silently I prayed again
To my God above

Lord if you really need her
Then please take us as a pair
For I don't want to go on
without my baby here

So, if you really need her
we are ready anytime
But that's the deal dear Lord
I will not change my mind.
