Pagans, dancers, a Christian and the judgement day
Bartenders sweat
Behind cherry wood bars.
They called him Disco Doodle,
Hot and filled with desire.
Music throbbed
Through the walls;
Vibrating floors
Setting
His passion fed feet
On fire.
Consenting adults,
Worshiping pagans all,
Writhed
Around their god,
A glass erection
Sprouting from the ceiling
While
Twirling, multicolored lights
Sent out splashing beams
Of psychedelic sperm.
This,
During
The riptide
Of his life,
Kept Doodle alive.
Outside,
In the public rain
Stands the man with a Biblical beard,
Molested as a child
Behind the pulpit
By a preacher,
His father.
“Repent sinners,”
The man with flaming eyes
Says to the passing dancers,
“before the judgment day
arrives.”
There is a bomb
In his backpack.
Every morning Doodle reads:
Psalms 32:5 “I acknowledged my sin unto thee,
and mine iniquity have I not hid.
I said,
I will confess my transgressions
unto the Lord;
and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.”
