Finding food and cheating death was a challenge
With life short
There wasn't much time for heartache

With life so short
Most marriages were arranged
Until the tragic romance of
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
In the 16th century
Introduced the concept of love before marriage
but
There still wasn't much time for heartache

Because only the newborn child earns love before birth
and the friar in Romeo and Juliet said it best with:
"Young men's love then lies not truly in their hearts but in their eyes."
Shakespeare was also right when he wrote,
"Out, out brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow."
In Shakespeare's time only five percent survived past age forty-five
Proving that there still wasn't much time for heartache

Today, many live longer lives
In Japan, average life expectancy is more than age eight-two
but in Haiti it is less than thirty
Where time for heartache is shortest.

With one-hundred-and-forty countries
Having life spans longer than age sixty-three
This offers more time to fall in love
because without time to experience the love of
Children, parents, spouses, friends and more
We cannot feel the luxury of heartache
