Below the sod in quiet repose
Gentle giants are waiting to pose
Frozen for now till the nudge
To swell and lift not to begrudge
The icy tomb they are encased
Till they thaw to be embraced.
First to see Forsythia blooms
So yellow, bright so to consume
Our hearts and minds for nature's room
Spirits soar to see what looms.
Tulips, daffodils, and crocus, too
Push and shove to show their hue
Hyacinths break the hardened soil
Breaking forth with a gentle roll
Wafting true a scent so sweet
Like a drum roll not missing beats.
All the flowers wait in line
Till it's time for them to shine
Knowing they are nature's breed
Emerging proud from a single seed.
Oh, the joy, so grand they leap
As heat and moisture breaks the sleep
Of these gentle giants beneath our feet.
For now, the pansies peek and prod
Through snow and sleet they simply nod
Till old man winter takes his trudge
And whistles spring, for Nature's Nudge.
