On the beach of life, the sands of time
Are running 'tween my toes
And they go past so very fast
I can but wonder where it goes
On the beach of life, the setting sun
Grows dimmer as it wanes
And as it dims, this mortal world
Brings on old age's pains
On the beach of life, the gentle clouds
Are turning into storm ones
And in the endless stream of days
I find there are fewer warm ones
On the beach of life, the wayward waves
Are lapping at the sands
Who, like the light of life itself
Are slipping through our hands!
