Red Caravans

I am satisfied they know what
they are doing, where they are
going. In unison, not one looks
for an express lane or instant
gratification. Each bares weight
greater than them selves with
their legs, skulls, neck and jaws.

Unflinching, they labor as one,
knowing thousands of nest mates
will freely come to their assist,
as they stretch, stir and yawn
in the beginning of every day.

Reading my words back, I retract
history, till even this sun is new.
A revelation of light, weightless
on my shoulder, passes through
transparent tissue; I sketch the
ancient rhyme of ant colonies; red
caravans, far from sand mountains.

"Quinta Poema, Caravanas Roja"

A brilliant summation of nature through the eyes of an astonishing poet!

Very seldomly do individuals take time out to notice the smallest creatures that inhabit our earth and do so is a rarity.
Wish all could be in unison as some of the smallest creatures, we would all be right on.
To appreciate is a must!
Deborah thank you for your insightfulness and for your wonderful works, you are such a contribution to society!
Hope you know I for one will always be on the look out for such greatness from you. You my Dear are quite an asset to our world as an Artist, Writer, and Poet. Keeping my eyes on ya', in my world I respect you, and look up to you! Not to mention count on you for such greatness!

Take the best of care,

Sincerely Gwendolyn

As you surmise, quite a lot can be learned from the colonies, of course mindless repetition can be said to be bad for you also. To work as one body for the common good is a much sought-out theory and one that usually does not work with we superior sorts. I use the superior word tongue-in-cheek, allthough of course we are, but sometimes I . . .

Beautiful write...I have often thought about just how wonderful that God made our great earth and all that inhabit it. Ants are miraculous little creatures, they will labor and work at a slice of bread until all is gone, no matter the time it consumes to please the queen ant of the colony, much like Native Americans also worked no matter the time to please the great mother earth. Wonderful write.
Blessings,

Beautiful description. I don't mind ants so much although I saw a documentary about killer ants that made me shiver. Victor

Through the Amazon by S. Oliver Eldridge

The drug called "The Shari" has been used for vision quests over many years. But, when all the rivers start drying up, the tribe must send a young hunter named Tomás on a much more important trip through the Amazon.
