fragility and strength

Poem Artwork

One Meadow

I walk the sorrow road of no man’s land, engaged
in nature’s strangest conversations.

Through bamboo forests, wide, wide plains and vineyards
ripe with fruit, full of unawares I, in your mind-field, also
bloom in the flowers of one meadow.

Everywhere, this province journey; its long wings
of indication lengthen where I seek humanity, peace,
intelligent forms and the
Grace of Resurrection.

Still you remain in darkness; painting egos white
as I lay lifeless; curled shapeless, in shapeless night.
Shadows winding through the afternoon; praise laden
with fragility and strength; unwearied, I rejoice in life,
grateful for your every blessing…

And you, in my very marrow, live painless and singing;
each morning and twilight before sleeping and eating
And because of your rising song, I sing of what matters;
people, the earth, the mountains, birds, wind, the trees,
water, the fish of the sea, fire, the sky and the bees.

Deborah,

I love the density and layers in this poem. Wonderful mix of imagery and inspirational phrasing. I savor this as one of your best in my humble opinion. Artwork is stunning to match.

A picture paints a thousand words and so does this view of Nature in comparison with your thoughts on frailty and strength ...

Through the Amazon by S. Oliver Eldridge

The drug called "The Shari" has been used for vision quests over many years. But, when all the rivers start drying up, the tribe must send a young hunter named Tomás on a much more important trip through the Amazon.
