The Sword that Seeks
Over the horizon comes Darkness, drowning out the day.
An evil mist that swirls, that lays.
Within it shadows dance, for now they have their way,
Evil things, vile things, that smell of death and decay.
They lurk, loom, grow from the hearts of tyrannical men
Even God, himself is dimayed.
But there, it glows in the night, a blade flaming bright
It begins as a point, a pinprick bright,
Feed by the fuel of right, grows steadily in the night,
Forged in the fires of burning patriots souls, it glows.
Tempered true in the fallen patriots blood
Even God, himself now prays.
Held in a strong heroes hand, wielded with power yet pure,
Virtue, Vengence, justice, sing out
As it cuts through the encroaching night, dispelling
The evil hidden there. The wicked feel the searing,
heat of its flame. Into the retreating darkness flee.
And God, is, isn't he?
A poem so strongly vivid of the battles between Darkness (evil) and Light (good)...the Sword (judgement) comes seeking. The final line "And God, is...isn't He?" declares the Omnipotent existence of
Him Who reigns over all. Very creative and encompassing.
