You are in my thoughts as I drift off to sleep at night
Much like the arms of tender parent
Getting me all tucked in for sleep
When I awake in the morning light
Like the sun you rise above my horizon to help me greet the new day
In all the in between moments of my day like a shadow with me you go
My constant companion
My shadow and me
I keep telling myself that one of these days
One morning or maybe on a warm afternoon
It will no longer be as it is
I will open my eyes and you will no longer be there
But for now here we are as we go off to lunch
My constant companion
My shadow and me
I do like this perspective, Haribaldev. Maybe I ought to rely more on myself to find peace within rather than look to others. Your poem reminds me of one that I posted here at AD entitled, "The Power of One." Thank you. Love and peace to you,
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
