This was for my brother, I never ended upgiving it to him, maybe one day...
Our mother had died three months before I wrote this, even though my brother lives on the other side of the world I knew he was, like me, completly broken up. So I was aiming to write him something that said our lives had been blown apart but we would be alright in the end.
What your about to read is how it turned out..

Brother

My brother, our lives have changed, we’ve to be careful, aware, there’s something waiting to leap at us with every twist or darkened turn.

No matter, you might of shaken parts of it off, or has it now clawed its way so deeply inside that you shake and shake but it won‘t let go. It clings and grasps on so very tight, this huge black dark cloak that has no light.

It wants you to stop, to have no strength, to open your soul to be engulfed, suffocated.  Not a merest glimpse of sunlight to fuel the soul, remember brother, it wants you whole.

With the dusk of the past year we met this dark, lonely thing.  It came into our lives with a smash and the force of a full frontal head on crash.

There was no warning, no preparation, no belts being cozily worn to limit the impact.  At impact we flew straight through that window, ending up broken into a million pieces, so much pain, so much hurt, we let it engulf us, swallow us.

At that time, to exist like this was the only right thing, the correct thing to do.

A small amount of time has come to pass, we are now, we must live, breath, maybe begin to love again, letting a merest glimpse of sun light into our souls, shake off this darkness whilst learning to smile, to live.

Yes, we remember the happiness of before, before is now like a dream of gold or diamonds, something so precious, beyond any riches imaginable on this earth.

Lock this away inside your heart, this will never be forgotten.

The million pieces, fight to put back together, but put them back an eternity better than they were before and the sun will gush and pour back in, golden and pure….

Interesting and intriguing piece of heartache and utter dispair. The road back into the light may be a long, tiring journey, but one always worth making....

Be always safe,
Karen
