I stopped, not far from the blinding reality, to weary to move closer and risk being burned.  The pain from last time was too fresh, the wounds still raw and red.

You are there, hand outstretched, just a few steps on the other side of that gaping hole... just beyond the reality, just one step to far.

Your words prompt me to think of an accompanying painting as I can see your words so visually...Painter August Sanchez would replicate your feelings into a wonderful Angel painting...You may want to check him out....
Brilliant evocative writing...

Not afraid to take the next step, but wishing not too and don't want to be burned. Been there and not expecting love to come to me now. Taking care of an ill hubby was so much for me and sad too and don't want to do it again.

I like the format of this, it's different. And the repeating of the idea of close but far works well, too.

Sometimes when the heart guides one down a path we must reach out and try. Your emotions are still re-living what was, perhaps it is time to put what was in the past and move on to something better....

Be always safe,

Sometimes when we are burned by a romantic relationship, we think about that one step too far. This is a raw emotionally charged piece, that deserves to be posted on every woman's office, bedroom, and kitchen walls. You wrote a mountain of electrically charged emotion, JoAnna. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), sister Barbie

Intense feelings and emotions of love and desire battling with the pain and anger perhaps of the past...always an interesting battle but if it were me I would stretch out my heart a little bit further...

They say that it's not the miles of the marathon that bring you to a grinding halt, but the last few metres. The last few steps too far. Brilliant work in brevity.
