Shallow breathes Shivers Covers A hand on my forehead Something cool to sip Something warm to sip Another blanket The blankets thrown Twists, turns Pillows on the floor Sunshine filters in, Then darkness. Humming, trembling Hot, then, cold Then , hot again Sunshine filters in, Then darkness. It all begins again. But, one day, A pat on the shoulder One eye opens, then the other Neither, burning up nor freezing cold Sitting up I am free To think, to feel, to do, to love My pain is gone My mind is clear Alive and grateful for this day
