Sunday Morning
Your head leaning on my shoulder
Your long chesnut hair scented lightly with flowers
You still crave your mother’s touch
though you are almost grown.
My arm is wrapped around you.
Your little brother’s head resting lightly on my lap
with his little fingers entwined in mine
as he smiles contentedly.
Your sister lighting candles,
serving bread and wine
as the hymn floats through the air.
She appears angelic in her flowing robe,
long, shining, pale blonde hair, sincere blue eyes,
and pink lips set in a half smile as she concentrates on her duties .
Daddy looks lovingly and thoughtfully at
the picture we have created.
The warmth of the Lord’s presence
whispers gently all around me.
Love and light fill my soul
on this blessed and beautiful
Sunday morning.
