Trust Me, Spoke the Spider to the Fly

A definition of trust. Can't you see that I love you?

“Trust Me”, Spoke the Spider to the Fly

“Trust Me”,
Spoke the spider to the fly.
Despite my ravenous hunger,
What reason for me to lie?

Although my natural instinct,
Is to feast upon your flesh,
Please note my concerted effort,
To put your mind to rest.

“Let’s be friends”,
And cast history aside
I now speak the truth,
It was before that I lied.

Come rest your head,
upon my noble breast.
“Shhhh – fear not”,
Is all that I request.

Ignore these silken threads,
That now bind you to me.
My one and only desire,
Is to see you are set free.

Please do not struggle,
Put your faith in us.
If not me, then who,
Is worthy of your trust?

This paralysis,
I ‘m glad to share.
Don’t fight the inevitable,
Love is pain  - "I swear".

As your eyes begin to dim,
Please rest assured,
The fault is not your own,
Merely my base nature.

The spider always wins, because the fly is always too trusting. Humans always make the same mistakes too. I like the metaphor in this one. Thank you for the sound advice!!!
