Halloween fun.

Poem Artwork

I painted this picture last week and decided to write a Halloween poem to go with it.

 The House On The Hill

At the end of the road

Where the edge is quite curled

Stands an old cragy house

That is not from this world

This house on the hill

Is where nobody stays

It's haunted by night

Then disappears in the days

But on Halloween night

As it's lit by the moon

All the empty old rooms

Will be filled up quite soon

There'll be spirits of evil

Who go there to play

Because All Hallows Eve

Is their own special day

There'll be dancing and howling

And tricks will be played

The shadows they cast

Through the windows displayed

There'll be werewolves and mummies

And goblilns and ghouls

Warlocks and witches

Who cackle like fools

They all gather to show us

Just who rules this night

As they cast eerie spells

With fiendish delight

So heed what I say

And don't go too near

For it's said you'll be captured

And not returned for a year

What a great seasonal poem, Sherry. Enjoyed.

The problem is you captured me "at the end of the road." I could have been that low-hanging ghost.

You must have been "captured," because it seems like you only return with a Halloween poem at this time each year. We need to see your poems more often like this classic one you have written from inspiration of your painting. I love the little black cat peeking from from his perch on the branch.

What a play on words. Sherry, I like this. You’ve got some talent girl. Well written.

That sounds pretty scary, I will be sure to not go near it, Sherry

Well done Sherry, reminds me of the old days in the den when we had such goulish competition into the macrabre world of poetry.
