Satin blouse raised up around her face,
lace panties down around her ankles,
she lay there, bruised, scratched.
She sits up in the darkness,
tall grass shields her
as she reaches out,
running her hands through wetness
in search of her wranglers.
Voices and footsteps nearby,
she crouches down again, hiding
her nakedness, until they are gone.
No knowledge of the hour,
her heart pounds fiercely.
"What's happened to me?
Where am I," she whines?
On hands and knees,
she scours the ground
for remenents of herself,
jacket, scarf...yes, finally,
torn, wrinkled wranglers.
Scrambling about,
she must make things right
before anyone sees her there,
in a country cornfield, stripped of
sorority-dignity,
silken-hair all a mess.
With stars as her only witnesses,
she whispers, "Tomorrow I'll stop drinking."

JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
It's a sad story you have chronicled, so sad. I know a girl personally who had a terrible experience of this nature while drinking at a party.
You are talented in poetry, so let me go and read more now.
