In the poetry book "On Trains"

Chair by the Window

Grandama Jacquette wheezed
in her chair
on our second floor flat,
watched a city
bus squeeze
one more passenger
for the short ride downtown.

Tony,our Irish terrier,
sat next to her,
helped her
to wheeze.
She stitched
black piping
on the plaid hat
with a red feather tucked in the band.

It matched my jumper and
my doll with ringlets of black
yarn styled on her finger,
as she sewed for her
the same Scoth plaid outfit.

I peeked into the lliving
room one day.  There,
nose pressed to window,
Tony panted next to
an empty chair.

This is a touching poem about your grandmother. I am not sure if I am correct, but I think your grandmother has moved away or has passed on. Is this why there is an empty chair? Her life seemed so simple as she watched the bus and sat in her chair. You have a special and simple memory of the your grandmother. Visit my den sometime! I would love it if you would review one of my poems.
