My plead for real art to come back and let's get rid of this fake that's attempting to make a home

Real Come Back 12/18/08

Do people write real shit anymore

All about the ego no heart in their words

Money done corrupted the mass

Rhyming to spend till IRS is on that ass

Is this what the devoted music lovers deserve

Fictional characters slanging fictional bars

To deny us from learning more

Do people lay down real tracks anymore

All about the shorties bending over degrading their worth

The coupes with the batman doors, iced from the ears to the wrist to your pores

Verse one, summer homes and rented jets

Verse two one hit subsided, the public couldn't stomach it

Verse three foreclosure notice posted on the fresh painted front door

Does anyone go through real shit anymore

At the club poppin bottles, who can relate to that more

The artist being paid to be played or the 9-5 men and women of this world

Can we gain inspiration from a verse

Where did music make a wrong turn

Through the hood, urban city or the corporate doors

Did it run through the 90s then stopped at greed to fulfill selfish needs

Do people sing real tunes anymore

The real vocalist get shown no love anymore

Doggy pattling to gold while the manufactured backstroking butterflying to platinum

Today we have the flat note hitters with appearance on their side

All you need is the physical to befriend the vocal to strive

The lyrically declined robbing millions from behind

To become disfigured figures

Do people buy real shit anymore

In a recession but overrated club bangers reaching the heights of charts

Investing in the excuse why our kids can't think for theirselves anymore

Record companies advancing the stereotypical on typical turf

Making a stable home off the easy influenced of the world

Buying time till the real shit takes reigns and direct this world

Do people write real shit anymore

Or the radio stations and music videos I'll have to continue to ignore

Who's making my college tuition off of middle school book reports

packaging it up with a bow and calling it music

Hooks resembling choruses I turned off yesterday and the other day

I can't accept these falsified compilations being passed off as revelations from these empty individuals anymore

Does anyone care about what's being put fourth anymore

Cause we need real shit to adore

So I’m introducing myself to the world….

This is a writing of opinion...and versed very well. I grew up with the "originals" Motowns greatest, Diana Ross, Earth Wind & Fire, Smokey R, Mr Stevie Wonder and the fabulous Temptations! I love to listen to the OLDIES...I guess because I am old!
But I must say, I do enjoy some of the newer sounds, Kid Rock, Sade and always the new country sounds!

This is true in SO many genres of music, but I totally agree about rap-the c'rap of today bears zero resemblance to people like Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Ice-T, Yo-Yo, MC Lyte, or any of the 90's rappers-I loved rap then, wouldn't listen to it now. The same goes for rock and pop, it is all bland Britney Spears garbage. This is a great write-Michelle

Nice writing, I have been turned off latelly to most music, music as well as other things because too much is superficial....

Be always safe,
Karen

This is a well written poem.Today's music is such a joke. All these rappers talk about is bling and all the other things you mentioned. Its like they don't try to put originality and creativity in their songs.I remember when Mister Cee who is a DJ at Hot97 here in NYC said that today's music is just "ringtone music" and that's what it truly is.These rappers just make music and songs just for teenagers and young adults to put in their ringtone of their cellphone.I enjoy reading this poem and 'real" definitely needs to come back.take care

Edwin
