I lay awake at night

Peering into the darkness of my lonely soul

Afraid to close my eyes

Slumber take me still

Barren, brittle, and cold as stone

My eyes fly open as I wake

Once again captivated by fear

As reality sets in and I realize

That love no longer lives here
