Shades Of The Rainbow ®

God merely spoke and the world became;
then there were creatures when He spoke again:
animals, big and small, and men, too.
Of man God made female, not a few.
Then He told them how things should be,
to share and care of all they could see.

Alas, time found man building a tower
rising to heaven, flexing their power.
God warned them to cease and desist,
but they could not resist.
Thus, He confounded their speech,
His Word no longer to be breached.

Now, there are vastly different nations,
seeming to be separate relations;
then, many gained different skin tones
and around the world began to roam.
Soon, the people were like a rainbow;
yet, prejudice slithered in, you know.

God reminded everyone, "Each and all
are one blood: thin, fat, short or tall;
white, black, yellow or brown—
regardless, all can receive a crown.
For love is what it is all about.
Still, you malign another, curse and shout."

Alas, very few ever deigned to listen;
instead, more and more laws they petition
and illegally perform racial profiles:
declare it justified as they head to trial.
Then, many abused stood up to fight
for what is only just and right.

Jesus was small and black— not white or tan;
yet, like you, He was a man.
His body was misshapen and deformed
His face badly marred, the Bible does inform.
As black as Solomon's curtains and Kedar's tent;
alas, Him the people cursed, spit upon and rent.

Still, "Love is every shade of the rainbow,
and yet no color at all." Don't you know?
All of us are sisters and brothers on this earth,
for God is our Father from the time of birth.
So, let go and cease to curse or kill your kin:
for to do either is a deadly, deadly sin.
