Rainbow Colors In My Hair

(The Painting Ballerina Song)

By Gloria Buono © 2004

Strands of blue, purple, and pink

Wonder what others are gonna think

With the way all of these colors blend

Hair looks great even with my split ends

Perhaps “rainbow hair” will become a trend

This isn’t a joke, and i’m no fool

Just love this rainbow-do, feels so cool

My best hairdo yet, without a doubt

Even if it’s grubby, i’d hate to wash it out

Terrible storm left mom and i broke

No food, no money, this was no joke

This isn’t crazy this isn’t queer

So much has happened from a simple idea

I took a nap and when i woke up

I met a rabbit and then a duck

They talked to me and i to them

Before we knew it we were friends

They played music with paint cans

And then i began to dance

From playing games to swimming the sea

To relaxing with a book to read

The day was perfect and so sunny

And we were so amazingly funny

Then tons of fun and creative art

Earned lots a cash from thinking smart

Rainbow hair full of color and curl

To think this started with a simple twirl

Was this for real, was i in a trance

When i invented a way to “paint-dance”

Dancing to music and paint who would know

My next move would be an attractive art show

Rainbow colors in my hair

So many colors everywhere

Villagers and friends stopped by to say hi

Then along came a pilot flying down from the sky

To see my paintings, that’s what he said

That’s when i blushed, my face turned red

Rainbow colors in my hair

So many colors everywhere

Suddenly all of my paintings are sold

Except one to have and to hold

Who would have thought, who would have known

That i could do all this on my very own

Now everyone in the village and the marina

Have come to know me as the painting ballerina

Rainbow colors in my hair

So many colors everywhere
