One of the reasons I enjoy Autumn is because I think of special people like a beautiful young girl whose middle name is “Autumn” (who turns 18 in November) but also because of the special walks with friends and family, including my 7 year old niece and 5 year old nephew. We have fun collecting brightly colored leaves and pressing the leaves between sheets of waxed paper and hang them on windows. I wanted to share my poetic vision on the beauty and magic of autumn leaves...

Autumn Leaves Young green leaves, Big and small trees End of September, To mid-November Sun weaker, Daylight bleaker Nights grow long, Autumn winds song Trees prepare, Winter's air Give leaves a chance,To sing and dance Rustling, bustling sounds, swirling, spiraling down Sunlight dries them, Leaves chameleon Maple,Oak and Sassafrass, to Beech, Ivy and Mountain Ash Beautiful, shriveled and old, Orange, red and brilliant gold Spectacular color transformation, Autumn leaves fascination By Gloria Buono (c) 2005

Beautiful poem! I can envision the leaves during each season. To me, I think this poem can be compared to the aging process---youth (green leaves)we sing and dance ( live our lives, enjoy our passions)and the color transformation, to me symbolizes the changes in our lives, and transitions. I know poetry can be interpreted different ways, but to me, I interpret this poem about the phases of life. Beautiful! Gorgeous!!! We are so lucky to be living in a city where we can appreicate and view the changing of seasons. As I look out my window, I see a combination of green, orange and red leaves on the trees behind my house.
You painted the perfect picture.
