Deserts And Hurricanes

I thought you’d always be here;
you’d always come back in the past.
Thought we had somethin precious
that beyond lonely days would last.

I’ve braved the desert sun;
panting… praying hard for rain
and floated through a hurricane
on a raft made out of pain.

I’ve watched the lightnin flash
and heard the thunder roar
but I always thought I'd see you
one more time at my door.

Guess my love couldn’t hold you.
You’ve always been a ramblin man.
You left me in a firestorm
without a backward glance or damn.

I can make it, all by myself
cause I’ve walked this path before
and next time you wanna come home
there’ll be a big lock on my door.

If Jesus is lookin down on me
I guess he understands
the way a woman’s heart
gets broken by a ramblin man.

I’ve braved the desert sun;
panting… praying hard for rain
and floated through a hurricane
on a raft made out of pain

That raft holds us up at times, and helps us not go insane dear Belle, love your turbulent poetry of brave and spirit.

This is a lovely lyrical, lilting poem…
So sad, but so often experienced…

“And floated through a hurricane
on a raft made out of pain”

Beautiful work Susan…

A sad and painful story that many can relate to, beautifully rendered as a poem. Lovely in a sad way.

I love every line of this poem. The usage of words is so unique and made this poem so beautifully written! Well done, Susan!

Your talent never ends. This poem, framed in sadness, of having a love leave for no reason and never come back, is the classic stuff of heartbreak. As I read it, I started humming a tune. What is so great about this one is the way you make it so original and yours while still using all the right words to get our hearts in line with yours.

In this collection of Western fiction, I’ve endeavored to bring the reader a little laughter at the expense of my characters, even though they are at times engaged in life threatening adventures. Learn to say something nice to all of your enemies l
