Wildflowers
If only the poems
could swim up and out of me,
a wellspring like new love.
As if infatuated
by the scope of my own words—
my last hopes,
forgotten dreams,
forgone schemes.
If only I could break
this silence.
Because yesterday,
the sun shone,
good music played,
and my only thought
was to bring myself
a bouquet of wildflowers—
the stories I am finally
brave enough to tell.
You belong among the wildflowers ... You belong in a boat out at sea ...Sail away, kill off the hours ... You belong somewhere you feel free.
