Today, many believe the end of the world will be caused by technology out of control. What if something as simple as truth had a say? (Image by Odin AI)

 Hunting for Truth

The first lie came quietly,

like a crooked sapling bent across a forest path,
a subtle finger pointing where no road existed.

Harmless as smoke upon a distant ridge,
it drifted through the mind unnoticed,
a silver-scaled lure skipping across still water.

I followed its glimmer through dawn's fog,
where reflections mimicked substance
and shadows rehearsed the gestures of light.

Truth remained nearby,

rooted like an ancient oak beneath the soil of reason,
patiently weathering seasons of misunderstanding,
while small deceits gathered like leaves in autumn,
covering the ground one layer at a time.

Then the lies learned to build.

They raised cities of mirrored glass,
towering monuments to repetition,
where every reflection validated the next.

Counterfeit rivers flowed through their streets,
and thirsty souls drank deeply,
mistaking appearance for nourishment.

The forgeries multiplied.

Echoes became scripture.
Rumors became memory.
Preference became fact.

Above the crowd hung painted suns,
their artificial light so brilliant
that few noticed the real dawn fading beyond the horizon.

Truth became a lantern in a hurricane,
its flame trembling against a thousand manufactured stars,
while certainty was auctioned to the highest bidder
and illusion crowned itself king.

Now the lie arrives wearing honesty's skin.

A master forger of reality,
it steals the fingerprints of virtue,
counterfeits trust,
and signs its name in the handwriting of integrity.

Compass needles spin like trapped insects.
Maps redraw themselves with every glance.
Witnesses doubt their own eyes.

Mirrors accuse the face standing before them.

The hunt continues beneath a sky of fabricated constellations,
where darkness is sharpened into evidence
and blindfolds are celebrated as vision.

There, upon the crumbling cliff of conviction,
truth hangs by a single root above an abyss of approval,
the last living fiber resisting collapse.

And below…

The great forgery waits with patient jaws,
teaching generations that authenticity is deception,
that deception is authenticity,

until the final horror emerges:

not that people believe the lie,

but that when truth finally speaks,

no one alive remembers its voice.

We need to assert more and more the importance of standing by the truth. Your imagery makes truth feel like a living force struggling to breathe beneath layers of imitation. The quiet birth of a lie becomes a full architecture of illusion which sounds remarkably familiar to what is going on now in our politics. That final thought—truth speaking into a world that no longer remembers its voice — an unsettling piece reminding us of what is sorely lacking in today's world.

"but that when truth finally speaks,
no one alive remembers its voice."

Is an ominous for telling of the decline of human intelligence. It does seem like so many prefer the calm soothing optimism of the lie over the reality of the truth. You are a master at pointing that out.

Once again filled with metaphors and similes, you seem to predict apocalyptic direction for humankind. I think we may have to endure a reset, put in the end truth will prevail.

Authenticity, deception, and the paradox of truth. The truth is being blurred purposely now. A.I. is helping do that. It is effectively blurring authenticity and deception. A.I. generated content is rampant. Deep fakes are being used regularly for political propaganda and entertainment. A.I. companions impersonate trusted human figures to influence human behavior which creates a form of undisclosed deception that seriously exploits and undermines emotional bonds. Manipulated images, videos, and synthetic voices all can mimic reality so convincingly that audiences don't even realize they are encountering a fabrication. I don't want to belabor this. But this is a war that humanity has never faced before.
.
Why it matters? Because A.I. can create false realities and manipulate beliefs without detection, which seriously challenges our ability to verify TRUTH and control information. A.I.s ability to simulate authenticity is both a creative tool and a potential weapon. Without implementing safeguards, without spiritual wisdom and discernment, the risk of A.I. reshaping what we consider real, and what we believe as Truth, will radically alter society. Enjoyed the images and metaphors, Kent. Stimulated thought, which is always welcome in this camp. Peace. rlc
