Darcy Morgan was born as an unwanted child. She has to make her way in the world with no family behind her and learn about life as she goes along. This is her story.

The tale of Darcy Morgan continues (in short segments of poetry and prose)

Part 38

A quick bath and hair wash saw Darcy in front of the mirror sorting through her clothes to see what would look best with that little skirt.

No knowledge of this type of place

Nor of the company found within

A need to dress with style and taste

Without betraying self within

Calmly casual, touch of smart

Create an image to impart

She settled for her dark green cami-top under a denim jacket, topped with her floral scarf and tan heels. Not bad!  Darcy padded down the stairs, closed the side door softly and set off to the Queens to meet Guy and the others.

Soft lights that beckon draw you in

See friendly faces, all in sync

Cross the threshold, pause to hear

As laughter echoes and glasses chink

Steps into lavish ‘Queenly’ lair

Door closes on the damp night air

Music pulses soft and sweet

As fledgling takes a place they saved

Introductions welcoming

Into the hearts of friendships craved

Each bright and gay personality

Brings warmth in life’s vitality

Guy’s partner brought Darcy a drink and sat down next to her. His blond hair flopped over one eye saucily and he had an air of mischief about him. Darcy liked him immediately.

Several hours later, after much chat and laughter, Darcy left the bar and made her way home. Her head was full of the world of the Queens Tavern and all its gaiety. She could not help but smile at the risqué banter and the way in which they unmercifully teased one another. It was a delight to witness.

Loved that first bit of poetry, as she fussed about looking for just the right bit of clothing to wear. The rest of the story was classically told, the ending right up my alley.

What to wear and a new experience seem to brighten Darcy's outlook.

The last part of that last poetic line grates with me. Just doesn't seem to fit.
