It i# important to have an eagle's approach to success.
A mother eagle had some unhatched eggs on the mountain as usual. Her eggs were about and she flew miles over the desert to fetch food for her anticipated eaglets.

While she was away; a strong wind blew and one of the eggs rolled off the cliff into the cave where a hen hid to hatch her own eggs too.

The beautiful hen smiled over her beautiful eggs and sat on them. She didn't realise that there was an egg that was not hers due to the black gloom of the cave.

Twenty one days rolled by, the fruit of her fasting had been over and her eggs splittered open. Beautiful chicks opened their mouths to take the first breath of air.

She saw the golden brown chick which was distinct, and larger than her own chicks; but she let this strange strange chick roam about with the others as they fed on worms.

After a month, the mysterious chick had grown almost twice the size of the hen, his dark brown body, with a distinct white head had become feathery.

Claws were longer and stronger. One day, as the hen roamed about with the chicks, she heard that shrill cry far in the clouds. She gave the clucking signal and her chicks knew what to do.

In a spasm of flight, the hen and chicks were safely tucked in the thickets. But this dark brown chick, never knew why he should run. And besides, he was astonished about his discovery.

The massive bird that emerged from the clouds fascinated him. It had the same golden brown feathers and white head just like his. He watched with keen interest as the bird swooped down on a lizard with sharp claws.

He looked at his claws and my God; they were too identical beyond doubt. He had a deep feeling that he had something in common with that bird.

However, he muttered, "how can that bird soar so high in the skies and I cannot." He went to the cliff under the cave where he had been hatched. He climbed the cliff, but not to the very top.

He was afraid of what the outcome would be, so from a height he felt he won't be hurt if anything goes wrong. So he launched him self into the air and flapped his wings but fear made him crash to the ground.

He felt very sad and dejected. The mother hen noticed his countenance and asked, "hey son, what's wrong with you? You are so gloomy today?"

"I wish I could fly like that bird you wanted us to run from moments earlier." He said dryly. "But that bird is harmful and dangerous. If your siblings hadn't hidden themselves; they'd have been a tasty snack for it." The hen sputtered in disgust.

A week later this huge bird came again; it's shrill cry shook the skies and according to its tradition it picked a small snake and he watched her fight the long reptile in the air.

His zest to be like that bird became insatiable. He had seen her often go to the cliff later in the afternoon. So he decided to pay a visit.

"Good afternoon ma'am" he saluted with fear. "Good afternoon son." The bald eagle replied with compassion. "Sorry ma'am, I have watched you for close to two weeks, and I am awed by your mastery of the skies. Besides, I see that we have so much semblances. I desire to be like you." He concluded.

"You don't know who you are young man. Haven't you noticed that while I prowl the skies ans pick my prey, I never threatened you; but I threaten your siblings often." She taunted. "Yes I do notice, thanks."

"You don't need to thank me. You haven't realised your capabilities. You haven't realised that you don't belong to those hens you roam about with." She said to his hurt.

"While the run from snakes, I can kill snakes and other fleshy animals. And you are capable of of doing more because you are of my kind." "Really!" The eaglet flashed hopeful eyes. "Yes"

"But I tried flying just like you did, but couldn't." The mother eagle laughed hard. "Son you have gone past the stage when you learn to fly easily, but it's better late than never. I will put you through tomorrow."

Tomorrow took decades to come; but it came eventually. The mother eagle thought the eaglet how to steady his wings and before he knew what was happening, she pushed him of the cliff and yelled, "cast your fears away and flap your wings, and release your claws."

Just when the eaglet thought he'd hit the ground, he picked up and soared into the skies. He cheered at the mother eagle, who joined in the flight and celebrated his victory. The eaglet was happy he had fulfilled his dream.

A lot of us are eagles among domestic fowls. We seem to be contented with the lowly position we are in. I told someone that if I had thirty five million naira in my account after all expenditure and savings; I would buy underwears worth thirty five thousans naira.

He told me I was a spendthrift, I told him he had a poor mentality. What is thirty five thousand to thirty five million?

Its high time we change our mentality. The richest in the world is not the one with the most money, but the one with the richest mind.

Where others see failure like the domestic fowls, the eagle sees success. The eagle finds strength where the domestic fowls digs up timidity.

To join the bandwagon of the great and the mighty, you need to change your mentality. If Bill Gates, Jeff Bros etc could be great, nothing stops you.

Are you that eaglet among fowls? It's time to unleash your potentials today. Grab that skill. Face that hurdle and come out a conqueror. Be the Victor and not the victim of circumstances.

Take charge of your world. It's not pride. The eagle is never proud for being the master of the skies. It his home. So the sky is your home. Being a graduate is your home. Being a successful person is your home.

Yes a parable. But be careful. Your parable must be not only believable, it must be true to form. For example, you belittled the motherhood of the hen that brought the young eaglet to adulthood. This sort of thing does actually happen in nature. Several birds do not nature their own young, but lay their eggs in other birds' nests for the birds there (both parents usually sit on the eggs and take turns bringing food, including eagles). But domestic roosters do not.
