     Kittens for sale.

My friend, Marcy, told me a story yesterday. She said that a woman she met was selling pedigreed kittens for $200 each. They were gorgeous baby cats, so she bought one. The animal, she was told, was three weeks old. Marcy wondered if it was old enough to leave its mother. But she took it in any case.

Soon after she brought the kitten home, it fell ill. She took it to the veterinary intensive care unit. They told her that the kitten was only 7oz and less than a week old. The bill from the ICU was currently $2500.00 and the meter was still running.

Marcy couldn't find the woman who sold the kittens. She was in hiding. I wonder how many of these cute kittens suffered and died?

I think the cat dealer should receive a merciless beating and five to ten years in prison. Domestic animals have rights. For some reason, Marcy wouldn't call the SPCA, though I urged her to do it. Maybe she's embarrassed or feels guilty for some reason. Perhaps it's because she can't connect with the anonymous saleswoman. The cat dealer owes her a lot of money but I'm sure she doesn't have it. Marcy is understandably very angry and upset. I feel sorry for her as well as I do for the kitten (and its siblings and mother, who were probably also sold).

There are always such inhumane bastards around. Anything to make some quick cash.

I can't understand why victims of scams often do not want to report what happened to the proper authorities (embarrassment?). In this case, the SPCA. I can't imagine paying $200 for a kitten, even one with verified papers as a pedigreed one. The overpopulation of pets results in many shelters overflowing with kittens that need a good home. That's the best place to find a pet. Let's put the pet sellers out of business for their nefarious ways.

By bringing this to readers' attention, hopefully you have staved off others from being scammed.
