A short story about me. The past does not define me.

This is applicable to each and everyone of us, regardless of our individual background or whether we're black or white.
My name is Mthokozisi Sidney Nkosi,
I was born in mpumalanga province and grew up between two small towns, Volkrust and Perdekop. Perdekop is a small town situated on the top of a 1889m peak in Mpumalanga province, and 38 kilometers towards the north of Perdekop is where you will find Volksrust. The reason why I'm telling you about these two places is because my mother’s home is in Volksrust and my father's home is in Perdekop. When the two of them met I became the result of that particular meeting. They never got married and they separated a few months after my birth.
I grew up as a very quite person. And growing up in these two places, life was not an easy road to travel on, as I had to grow up really quickly and start doing things for myself. At the age of ten, I already knew how to cook. At the age of ten I already knew how to wash my own clothes. Today I have a better understanding of what people mean when they say nothing in life comes easy, and sometimes you have to go through struggle to get to a place where God want you to be. Most people who are from similar backgrounds as mine, tend to have a giving up attitude on life, they end up comparing themselves with people in their blood line. But not me, as I always had a positive opposite reaction on life.
When my friends were interested in sports in school, I was not; instead I was more into the creative side of life. I used to spend most of my time making drawings of pictures and writing short comic stories and reading them out to my classmates. .
Believe me when I say that, when you are on a positive state of mind nothing will seem impossible for you and no height will seem unreachable. All you have to do is think high enough to grow wings. And believe me again, the sky will never be the limit, as long as you believe in what you aim to achieve regardless of your backgrounds and a wise man once said, "life is like riding a bicycle, in order to keep the balance you must always keep on moving"
I believe that everyone is capable of achieving anything in life. All you have to do is change your life by the changing the way you think. And always remember that "nothing in life that is faced can be changed, and nothing can be changed until it is faced"
I'm fully in agreement with you that where we've been is less important than where we are going. But, it would've been nice if you had shown some of the progress on your way that is shown in your bio.
I have found that aging authors tend to focus on where they've been as a way of explaining how they got to where they are at the at the end of their lives.
