First broadcast on SABC radio in their series "Short Stories from Near and Far".
This story was based on a rumour I had heard near where I grew up in the UK. Not until 20 years after I had written my story did I realize that my character "Jacintha" was, in real life, Judith Lingham . . . who used to sit next to me at junior school.
There are many, many other coincidences that surround the real and my fictional story that defy the imagination. Not only was I at school with "Jacintha" but also the bride groom and his bestman in the true incident. In addition, the day of the actual event was my first wife's birthday.
