David wakes with a start
And looks venomously at his alarm clock.
It didn’t go off again--
Batteries must be dying…
It’s ticking though--
And that noise irritates him.
Every tick seems to viciously remind him
'Be careful--
Because even electricity
Costs money.'
He had intended to work on his budget
This morning.
And then sign up for
Free stuff via the computer.
He’d go through their 30-days trials
Then cancel before they billed him.
That way, he could keep all the gifts
And sell them on Ebay;
His new,
On the side,
Internet business.
He looks at the clock again,
And opts to sell post and sell it.
He’ll use his cell phone instead.
It’s multi-purpose anyway, he reasons.
And, he’ll have to learn to make more out of less
If he wants to be successful
In leaving the working stiffs.
His agenda for today--
Research financing for Culinary training
Call about beginning his website;
Determine how much money he needs to live
Without becoming a member of the ‘working poor’...
And see Julia tonight.
He starts coffee,
And then turns on his computer;
Runs a search for Student Loans
And places the first call…
