DOWN INTO THE UNKNOWN (July 11, 2013)
There I was standing by the window holding a teddy in my hand. The room around me was cold and hollow, my cries vibrating inside these empty walls. I was being torn from everything that I had come to know, from the place that made me who I am. Tomorrow was a new day, a new life across the Atlantic, a life that spiraled down into the unknown. What awaited me past oceans wide was unclear and only time would tell what this strange world would hold for me. Would I climb the ladder of success or would I stumble down thorugh a black hole I will never be able to escape from.
I wrote this piece for my writing class. It was a five minute writing exercise based on an image of the stairs. We had to look at it and write whatever came to us at that moment and write for five minutes. The piece above is what came to life. It is unedited. Please let me know your thoughts.
