I enjoy writing poetic stories...This is the beginning piece of a short story I started a few years ago, as a brief series. I'll post additional pieces daily through it's conclusion. Some folks have found it very interesting...hope you enjoy it as well.
It’s Friday 2 pm.
He’s decided that this day
Is his final day
Among the working stiffs…
No matter what it takes--
No matter how difficult it becomes,
He’s moving on and never looking back
At corporate America.
I got stuck, he thinks.
Should have been more open-minded
About job moves
When I was younger.
Should not have believed the lies--
Hard work equals promotion, big bucks,
And glory…
He had waited too long
To become aggressive
And wise…
But it’s never too late to change, he reasoned.
Not now,
Not ever…
Death by cubicle will not be
The diagnosis for ME, he smirks.
At least, not yet.
So, he leaves the office early;
Goes home and ponders
What he will be doing
On Monday, 8 am--
And decides that
Whatever it will be
It shall not be
In a cubicle
In corporate America…
